Ado-Ekiti – Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti on Friday announced a three-day mourning in the state for victims of the Associated Airline plane crash.
Notice of the mourning is contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode in Ado-Ekiti.
The statement noted that the Ekiti mourning was in solidarity with the government and people of Ondo State and families of the victims of the crash, particularly the late Agagu family.
It quoted the Ekiti governor as condoling with the government of Ondo State, the Agagu family and families of victims of the crash.
Fayemi described the crash as “a calamity of unimaginable proportion” as it happened when the Agagu family was yet to come to terms with the demise of their beloved ex-Governor Olusegun Agagu.
He called on the relevant agencies of government to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash and prayed that the nation would never witness such an incident again.
The governor also prayed for quick recovery for those injured in the crash and prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead.
“Our prayer is that God will console the families of the victims of the crash and heal their wounds,” he added.
